Ghosts haunt the Cathedral Grounds.
A
Japanese Tourist holidaying in Ely had to be treated for shock when she
discovered apparitions on one of the photographs she had taken locally.
The picture
has been studied by members of the church and the regional manager of
Kodak, both of whom were very skeptical, but could offer no reasonable
explanation.
We asked local photographer Bob Mozejko of the Ely Standard to analyze
the photo for Ely OnLine. His conclusion is as follows...
"The photograph was taken in the afternoon at about 4pm to 5pm
about six weeks ago with a Kodak Compatible Analog Film Camera. The photograph
shows the Ely Cathedral with the afternoon sun behind causing an amount
of Lens Flare as we professionals call it.. The picture also seems
to show two transparent figures. They appear to be male (left) and female
(right). The male appears to be holding a lantern and is wearing an old
fashion Hat similar to that of Anglo Saxon times. The female has a headband
or under hood head garment which seems to suggest the attire of a Nun.
In my opinion the photograph cannot be "real" and although Kodak
cannot find any indication of forgery,
I believe it to be a FAKE! I have photographed the Cathedral many times
and I have never seen anything like this. I think it is the "double
exposure" effect. Maybe the tourist that took this picture forgot
to wind the camera on or something... If not that then it must be a freak
Lens Flare Effect, a phenomina which, like the lottery, once every 14,000,000
snaps will produce lens flare that looks like real objects...
The tourist however denied trickery saying she has never taken a picture
of ancient Britons, so could not understand how it could be double exposure.
She had also never won anything thing on the lottery.
Ely OnLine have researched into the clothes
seen in the picture and have found them to have a distinctly Mediaeval
look. We believe the picture to indeed, shows a Nun, maybe even Sister
Etheldreda the Lady Princess who invented Nuns and is remembered as a
Saint. The male is perhaps The GateKeeper, Guardian of the Holy Isle who
has been seen many times, always at the olde boundaries of the ancient
Keep.
A spokesperson for the Witches
of Ely said. Long before Christianity came to this place, when the
Pagan Gods Ruled and Christ himself was a wee sprog, the Isle we now call
Ely was the ancient Island of Mists and Tides, a place of eerie enchantment,
un-inviting and inhospitable, yet strangely compelling. Many believe it
to be Avalon, mystical spiritual land of Arthur, King of the Britons.
It is also said that it is from Avalon he will rise again to unite the
people of the One World. His appearance will be preceded by the visions
of Saints and Sinners, gathering one and all for Armageddon, the Judgment
Day...
Worse than Jehovas Witnesses them Witches. Anyway, it is for you to make
up your own conclusions.
