The
Ship of the Fens,
|
The
Titanic..! |
Shocking
conclusions drawn from meteorological facts prove beyond a doubt that,
as water levels rise due to global warming, East Anglia will flood...
A sobering
warning can be heard in the words from the film Titanic...
"I assure you Sir, she's made of Iron, she will
go down..!" |

Spot
the difference..!?! |
As
the reality hits home, home insurance will rocket, especially in the low
lands, affecting us all...
Survey figures show land shrinkage of up to -20 feet from estimated
17th century pre drainage levels caused by the drying of the Fens, and
wind erosion. Ely City itself, despite being built on a giant rock,
believed to be a meteorite, is in fact, sinking.
You don't have to be Ansley Harriot to conclude
a recipe for disaster, one that for us Fen Folk, maybe closer than
we think...
Wise fenmen are saying we have already seen proof...
As recently as the 1970's, the Bedford Level Flood Wash, which is used
to regulate seasonal high tides, burst it's banks, and 1000's of acres
of fenland was under water for
weeks plus, 100's of homes were evacuated
and the area was put into a state of emergency with public halls being
turned into makeshift civic disaster centre's...
"This was a warning shot..."
"There's gonna be alota wet socked ex-city wussys and American pilots
losing house and home afore this wends it's sorry tale...
I've sold me small 'olding to a slick city gent wanten to move to the
country, and I'm off to higher ground in Milton Keynes... "
says one smug Fenman...
Many ex-city slickers believe it is nothing to worry about for it will
be a slow process...
Not so say geological experts...
"Every year, constantly, we improve the sea barriers, building higher
and stronger re-enforcements, whilst inland, land shrinks. Even the rivers
are getting lower! With the current estimates of up to a half metre rise
in sea level within, perhaps as little as 20 years, even the next abnormally
severe seasonal high tide could breach the sea defence's and submerge
two thirds of East Anglia 10 feet deep..!
Like Titanic, Global warming is unstoppable in the short term...
Although the crew and Captain saw the iceberg a mile off and reacted accordingly,
the ship, like our ecosystem, cannot react quickly. Decisions we make
today, will not take effect for years.
Our current problem is caused by the Industrial
Revolution, a process started centuries ago..!
People of Ely City relax...
It will take many icebergs the size of the one Titanic hit, to melt and
sink the Ship of the Fens. Ely by virtue
of it's elevated position will see the waters rise around it. A future
King of England, Harry perhaps, may be able to take the historic boat
journey made by King Canute, around the banks of the Island of
Ely. And when he does he might say "Row closer oarsman that I may hear
the Sweet Songs of the Ely Monks and the Rock Band down The
Town House"..!
