Witches put damper on Oliver Cromwell's Birthday...
The
ever increasing Media Hype surrounding the 400th birthday parties, which
included a plan to Stage the Mediaeval Baebes in Ely's Cathedral
(
see REF:BELOW
), has prompted the Witches of Ely to suggest their own
Celebration...
In
an unprecedented move The Witches are approaching the Bishop of Ely in
an attempt to be granted permission to perform a Special
FULL MOON RiTE around a 400 year old Tree. The Tree, a London Plane,
is in the Bishops Garden and is over 100ft tall and is without doubt the
most knowledgeable Tree in the area.
The Ritual is also proposed to Ely's Tourist Head in an attempt to gain
a financial grant to make a good show of it, offering limited places for
Worshippers and Media Personnel so the whole event can be Witnessed and
Recorded...!
The Witches of Ely have issued a statement which reads...
" We
believe in the LifeForce of Trees as they stand silently reflecting on
the World of Men. The Tree's speak to us via their shape changing qualities.
The Ely Tree, as we call it has had a good life and is eager to share
its story and enjoy it's deserved glory. We also want to push the frontiers
of Religious Tolerance for local ethic minorities, in-particularly Witches
and Pagan believers in general. This country is keen these days to promote
racial and religious integration giving Muslims, Hindus and the like their
places of Worship.
It's about time
the ancient Cultures of English and British people were given the same
respect..!".
The event is planned for around Sunday the 25th, the exact date of Cromwells
400th BirthDay Anniversary. More details
of the event can be found on the Witches Tree LiNK's on ely.org.uk, or
the newly formed Witches Organization @ www.witches.org.uk

The Mediaeval Baebes
News from a local promoter who says he has secured the Mediaeval Baebes
for up to 2 performances on 25th of April has regretfully informed us...
"The intended venue of Ely Cathedral has in their Holy judgment,
rejected the event on the grounds of, it's our Cathedral and we don't
want upstarts attracting the wrong sort of people. We shall not be celebrating
Cromwells Birth ourselves because we are devoid of imagination and,
quite frankly, can't
be bothered!".
Anybody with a little more enthusiasm for our History and geographical
area may like to take over the hire of the Mediaeval Baebes on the 25th
for less than £3,000. Contact baebes@ely.org.uk
